• Information from third parties: We may receive information about you from third parties including our carriers; merchants/brands; payment service providers and advertising service providers.
• Information on the use of our website and/or mobile applications: We automatically collect and store certain types of information regarding your use of the Jumia marketplace including information about your searches, views, downloads and purchases.

How We Use Your Personal Data

We use your personal data to provide the services you request, operate, develop and improve our products and service including the following:

• Registering you as a new customer.

• Managing your relationship with us.
• Resolving disputes and troubleshoot problems

Personal Date Retention Period

Jeem will only keep your personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements.) Upon request for account closure/deletion, your account will be closed but this closure will not involve removal of historical records of the account for the reasons already stated. However, except as may be required by law or law enforcement agents and/or regulators, further processing of the personal information related to the account will cease from time of closure.

Data Deletion

This sets out our policy for responding to requests for deletion of data. This explains data deletion and the responsibilities of Jeem in responding with such a request. An individual can request the deletion or removal of personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing.

When does the request to erasure apply?

Individuals can request to have personal data erased and to prevent processing in specific circumstances:

• Where the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected/processed;
• When the individual withdraws consent;
• When the individual objects to the processing and there is no other legal ground for the relevant processing activity;
• When the personal data was unlawfully processed;
• Where the personal data has to be erased in order to comply with a legal obligation.

How can data be deleted?

We will delete the user data upon request (via email to info@jeem.com.ng or upon closure of your account. We undertake to perform the deletion within one month (30 calendar days) and will send you a confirmation once the information has been deleted. Wherever possible, we will aim to complete the request in advance of the deadline.
